Camberwell Fresh Food Market 1930s

515 -521 Riversdale Road Camberwell
This site war originally a horse carriage factory and in the 1930s became a produce market to service the outlying market gardens of the area. In 1992 a major fire damaged most of the market and stallholders operated from temporary premises while the market was rebuilt. Another refurbishment in 2002 allowed for a fresh new look and opened the rear wall to the car park offering easier access. Traders include 4 delis, 2 fishmongers, 2 florists, 2 chicken stores, 3 fruit and veg stalls, 2, butchers, 2 cafes, juice bar, sushi bar, dried fruit and nuts, wine store, discount cosmetics and shoe repair.

Many stall holders in this traditional style market are second or third generation and all are family run businesses.
